Wandering around in the oppressive heat of a summer day in Rome, I found myself in the area of Trastevere, where I discovered this interesting ancient door with the handle in the middle. Shot in infrared, which you can tell by the whiteness of the nearby potted plant, I did not intend for it to be colorized. However, in one of my first art festivals, a young man pulled out this image from the stack and declared, “This picture would look really nice if the door was red.” I totally agreed and thus began the series of colored doors in my collection. So, thank you, young man, for speaking up!
